David Wagner Biographic Summary

David Wagner Vice President for University Relations and Development

 

David Wagner is the vice president for University Relations and Development at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was appointed to this position in the summer of 2004 with responsibilities over Alumni Relations, Ministerial Relations, Public Relations, University Relations Communications, Development and Development Services. In 1998, Wagner joined the university staff as director of Ministerial Relations. Later that year, he added the title of director of Public Relations. In December of 2001, Wagner was named associate vice president for University Relations.

Wagner graduated from ORU in 1973 with a degree in music education. That same year, he began graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received his master’s degree in education in 1976. He then held positions as a music teacher and later served as an educational consultant with several state agencies in Wisconsin. He was instrumental in writing a statewide Arts for the Handicapped Curriculum for the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

In 1982, Wagner was named principal of Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin. He also served as chairman of the board for the Oral Roberts University Educational Fellowship (ORUEF) from 1987 to 1997. Through ORUEF he has traveled across the United States and in a number of foreign countries, speaking and presenting workshops related to Christian school issues. He has received the ORUEF Award of Excellence for Contribution to Christian Education as well as the ORUEF Award of Excellence – Administrator of the Year. He has also been involved with the Graduate School of Education at ORU, teaching a 2-week summer institute class in Christian School Finance. In addition, he taught an Administration of Non-Profit Organizations class for the ORU School of Business.

For six years, Wagner served as a commission member for the National Council for Private School Accreditation. At the present time he is a member of the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of Eastern Oklahoma. Wagner also holds memberships in the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

David and his wife, Rachel, have one son, Ethan, who resides in the Tulsa area with his wife, Genesis, and their four children. The Wagners’ daughter Gretchen resides in New York City and their younger daughter, Anna, resides in the Washington, D.C. area.
